Looking through some top rated arcade games to buy (as i have 800 MSP left over from purchasing some Halo Reach maps i wanted) i stumbled upon Full House Poker. I downloaded the trial and since I'm a huge poker fan, i thought it was amazing and absolutely loved it! Purchase! So sitting playing through a tournament i unlock 8 achievements in one game and so i take a look at the rest of them wondering ooh what will i go for next. I came across the Hot Pot Master, Spring 2011 achievement, a little confused by what it was i looked it up online.
To my utter horror, i find out its a time sensitive achievement that required you to win a pot hand in Spring 2011 in the game mode Texas Heat and its way past spring. Why?? Just why would you even make this an achievement! I bought this at the end of summer so right from the start of me buying this game there is no way for me to get this cheevi!! I am a completionist and I, like many gamers, like to 100% complete games and get all of their achievements etc. So not only did i purchase a game that now i will never full complete but i feel cheated by the creators of it. I just spent 800 MSP on this game and if i had known that some of the achievements where unobtainable i would never have bought it.
Yes i can hear you saying, its just a game, its meant to be fun yadda yadda, but to me and to so many gamers like me, getting every achievement on a game is fun and something we love doing and now i will never be able to perfect this really good and fun arcade game, this really really frustrates me. I mean i still bloody have Fifa 07 sitting in my cupboard somewhere because one day i may go back and unlock the achievements. (I'm weird like that). But I don't mind achievements like Vidmaster Challenge Annual on Halo 3 because although you couldn't unlock it until after 25/9/08 you could still unlock it and it wouldn't be gone forever! Damn you Full House Poker for your trickery!!
So developers please in future could you not make achievements unobtainable after a certain time so we can actual 100% your game PLEASE or at the very least put a warning in the description telling us it may have some achievements you cant unlock, something like "WARNING: some achievements are not unlockable" yes i get it's a bit too far but you get what i mean. ;)
